Lake Piru Recreation Area is open all year long.

welcome1Lake Piru is located in Ventura County, California, in the Los Padres National Forest next to the Sespe Condor Sanctuary. You would never know it floating on our peaceful lake, but we are less than an hour away from Los Angeles. Visitors to our campground can also enjoy the uncrowded beaches of Ventura or Hollywood and Universal Studios.



Lake Piru offers level tree-shaded camping sites, clean restrooms, coin operated hot showers and a fully stocked store to meet most camping and boating needs. Motor homes, trailers and truck campers are welcome. Lake Piru has paved roads, tree-shaded sites, and a convenient dump station.

We also have Two Group campsites available for your family reunion & big get together. When choosing a campsite below is the list of different campsite types you can choose from here at Lake Piru. Please note that all campsites do come with a Picnic table & firering with a grill top.



Full Hook Up Campsite: Has electric, water and sewer connection available on the campsite

Electric Only campsite: Has only electric at the campsite.

Primitive Campsite: A campsite without any amenities like flush toilets, electric, and water.

In observance of sound environmental and water conservation values, this facility has been equipped with coin-operated shower timers. Revenues generated through the use of this facility are used to fund conservation and improvement projects at the Lake Piru Recreation Area.

marinaLake Piru Marina provides full recreational services to meet your every need: private slips— monthly/yearly/overnight mooring, dry storage, fishing, and pontoon boat rentals.

Boat Rentals are available year round. Please call us (805-521-1500) for the latest launching information.


The Marina caters to the novice fisherman and offers free advice, information and helpful hints.

To reserve a campsite, specific campsite, or check for site availability, call (805) 521-1500.

Reservations are accepted 7 days a week in the off season, and Monday – Thursday (9am – 3pm) in season.


Reservations may be made year round at Lake Piru Recreation Area kiosk and are accepted up to one (1) year but no less than one (1) week in advance of the indicated date of arrival. Telephone reservations are accepted by credit card only (Visa/MasterCard and Discover), Monday -Thursday from 9am to 3pm. To make a reservation, call (805) 521-1500

Reservations are taken and confirmed in person, over the phone or by email. We must receive your reservations request at least 1 week prior to the indicated date of arrival. SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS.

RV hookup campsites have water, sewer and electricity hookups, a picnic table and a barbeque ring/grill.

Electric campsites have electrical hookups, a picnic table and a barbecue ring/grill.

Regular campsites have a picnic table and a barbecue ring/grill at each site.

There are coin operated hot showers in the Olive Grove restrooms and water faucets at various locations. RV units that are self contained may use regular campsites. There is dump stations near the lower Bathrooms in the Olive Grove Camping Area.

Group Campsites are primitive camping areas, which have picnic tables and a large firepit.

Check-out time is 12pm. You may check into your site before 2pm on your arrival date, if the entry kiosk indicates that the site is vacant. Renewal time is 10 am.

A minimum stay of two (2) consecutive nights is required to make a reservation per campsite. On holiday weekends, a three (3) night minimum stay is required. The maximum stay length of stay in the campground is fourteen (14) consecutive days (2 weeks) in the in March through October 31st. November through Febuary 28th we have a long term stay of 90 days.

Pets are allowed in developed campgrounds and user facilities, and must be kept on leash at all times – unless they are in the Off Leash Dog Park (just north of the Day Use Area). Pets are NOT allowed in the water at any time.


A change of arrival/departure date can be made as long as the reservation office is notified at least 48 hours in advance of the current date of arrival.
